Day 2: Arusha to West Kilimanjaro  |  Overnight Stay at Simba Farm Lodge

Tar Road: 90 km  ·  Gravel Road: 45 km  ·  Total: 135 km

Transfer to the Royal Enfield Centre for a comprehensive trip briefing and to meet your motorcycle guide. Depart by 11h00, heading northward on tar road before turning east onto gravel to ride around the northern slopes of Mount Meru — a beautiful freestanding extinct volcano.

Ride through bush, open landscapes and forested areas with wildlife viewing opportunities and plenty of chances to meet locals along the way. Your destination is on the foothills of the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro, arriving in the late afternoon for fire, dinner and an overnight at Simba Farm Lodge.

Day 3: West Kilimanjaro to Lake Natron  |  Overnight Stay at Africa Safari Lake Natron

Tar Road: 30 km  ·  Gravel Road: 200 km  ·  Total: 230 km

Today is one of the longest ride days of the trip. Depart by 09h00, heading west away from Kilimanjaro and into the open plains before turning northward for excellent wild game viewing from your motorcycle.

Ride all day through African bushlands, grasslands and eventually desert landscapes as you approach Lake Natron — with the active volcano of Ol Doinyo Lengai ahead of you and the dormant Gelai volcano to your right. Wildlife encounters along the gravel sections include Giraffe, Elephant, Antelope, Gazelle, Wildebeest, Zebra and the elusive and endangered Cheetah.

Arrive at Lake Natron in the late afternoon and check into large safari-style tents close to the lake. Enjoy spectacular views of the lake and Ol Doinyo Lengai over a sundowner before fire, dinner and overnight at Africa Safari Lake Natron.

Day 4: Lake Natron — Exploration Day  |  Overnight Stay at Africa Safari Lake Natron

Gravel Road: 50 km  ·  Total: 50 km

A day to explore the spectacular surrounds of Lake Natron at a relaxed pace. Options for the day include a wildlife game drive on your motorcycle, a hike through a river gorge to cool off under a spectacular waterfall, exploring the lake shores to get up close and personal with Lesser Flamingos, and a visit to a Maasai village to learn about their culture and way of life. Alternatively, stay in camp and enjoy a relaxing day by the pool.

Did You Know?

Lake Natron is one of the most important Lesser Flamingo breeding sites in Africa. The extreme alkalinity of the lake deters predators, providing a unique safe haven for over a million birds.

Day 5: Lake Natron to Lake Eyasi  |  Overnight Stay at Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge

Tar Road: 30 km  ·  Gravel Road: 155 km  ·  Total: 185 km

Depart from Lake Natron by 09h00 and head south along the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment. You will ride among wildlife, pass the foothills of Ol Doinyo Lengai and through Maasai tribal villages with opportunities to meet locals along the way.

Stop to visit a large crater en route. A packed lunch is enjoyed along the way before riding up the escarpment to higher altitude, then back down towards the shores of Lake Eyasi — your destination for the night at Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Lake Eyasi to Lake Burunge  |  Overnight Stay at Winter's Tented Lodge

Tar Road: 60 km  ·  Gravel Road: 140 km  ·  Total: 200 km

An early start for a full day of off-road riding on trails and rugged roads from Lake Eyasi, circumnavigating Lake Manyara. The day begins with a visit to the Hadzabe — one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes of East Africa.

The route then heads east from Lake Eyasi to the escarpment above Lake Manyara on challenging tracks rarely driven by cars, with dry or wet river crossings, encounters with magnificent vegetation and breathtaking views of Lake Manyara and the plains below.

Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before riding down the escarpment to Lake Burunge on the outskirts of Tarangire National Park — wildlife encounters on the road are highly likely. Dinner, fire and overnight at Winter's Tented Lodge.

Tarangire is home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife: Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra and much more. Return to the lodge by late afternoon in time to relax before a savory dinner with views of the African Bush. Dinner, fire and overnight at Winter's Tented Lodge.
